Washer Dryers
CHOOSING THE RIGHT APPLIANCE
WASHER DRYERS
Washer dryers are washing machines and tumble dryers built into 1 appliance. They are great for space-saving. They can come as both freestanding and integrated. See ‘Washing Machines’ for descriptions.
DRUM SIZE
You will want to consider the number of people in your household in order to decide what size drum you should be selecting.
MEASURING FOR YOUR NEW APPLIANCE
It is important to check that the washing machine or washer dryer you intend on purchasing will fit in the relevant space. Here is a guide to ensure you purchase correctly and save yourself any hassle come installation time. All appliances listed on Dometrix.co.uk display the Height (h), Width (w), and Depth (d) of the appliance. These dimensions do not include any protruding features such as doors or knobs.
FREESTANDING WASHER DRYERS
If you are putting your new Freestanding washing machine or washer dryer under a kitchen worktop, they are not intended to sit all the way back underneath them as this will inhibit access to detergent drawers and other functional parts.
Measure the height width and depth of the space so that you can compare them with the measurements listed on Dometrix.co.uk.
It is important to allow for an extra 7cm to the depth, to account for the pipework behind it. As shown below.
INTEGRATED WASHER DRYERS
Integrated washing machines and dryers are intended to be built into the kitchen units with a cupboard door attached to the front of them. They generally come with standard widths and heights. However, we still recommend measuring these, in case your space is slightly smaller than standard. It is particularly important to measure the depth of the space. You should allow for an extra 3cm to the depth to account for the pipework. As shown Below
